Robotic Services
The global robotics market is expected to grow from USD 37.81 Billion in 2017 to USD 158.21 Billion by 2025 at a CAGR of 19.11%. Thanks to its many advantages like cost reduction, improved quality, increased production, and improved workplace health and safety, high computing power and deeper insights most industries are now choosing robots.
We’re seeing numerous applications of robotics across automotive, warehousing, e-commerce logistics, industrial applications, services, military and others. Our main focus is in bringing world class robotic technologies in the areas of e-commerce, logistics, warehouses and F&B delivery/ services.
There has been an e-commerce boom with increased online buyers and a host of online shopping platforms for almost all needs. This has seen a spike during the Covid-19 pandemic, and some of these “new habits” are likely to stay for long.
Some of the Indian E-commerce giants such as Amazon, Flipkart, PepperFry, Zivame and Myntra and courier brands like DTDC have invested and benefitted from automating their supply chains and warehouses. Automation has helped immensely with inventory management, seasonal demand and sortation, increased storage space, order fulfilment and cross-docking thereby improving efficiency and quality of work dramatically, reducing human labour and helping reduce turnaround time by a fourth.
There is also an increasing demand for industrial robots for material handling, welding, dispensing, precision machining, etc. High sustained growth has attracted global majors like Yaskawa, Hyundai, Fanuc, ABB, Wittmann, and Star Automation to the Indian market. Companies like Wipro Infrastructure Engineering’ (Automation Business unit) have also joined hands with Hanwha Robotics to develop the Cobots Business in India.
In warehouses, we’re seeing greater penetration of AGVs and AMRs amongst progressive companies. We’re seeing that many companies have a preference for “Robotics as a Service” instead of buying out the assets. This reduces capital expenditure, and ensures that a complete solution is being offered to the customer, vs a piecemeal product/ service.
In addition to the above, we are experiencing rising demand for service robots in hospitals, hospitality, restaurants and other F&B service companies. In hospitals, this could be to deliver food and medicines to patients through a contact-less model, while in restaurants these robots will deliver food in lieu of waiters. This trend has been accelerated due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and we expect this to accelerate in the next 3 years.
We are keen to partner with companies interested in offering their AGVs, AMRs or drones as a service to Indian clients for warehouse operations, and to meet their logistics requirements. This market is at a nascent stage currently, and early movers can have a significant share of this rapidly growing market in the coming 3 to 5 years. We are also keen to partner with companies providing Service robots for hospitals and hospitality industries.
